Blood Donation
Join the community for a lifesaving blood donation event at Black Mountain Recreation Center on Saturday, July 26, from 10am to 1pm. Donating blood is a safe and simple way to make a difference. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, be in good health, and have not donated blood in the past 8 weeks (or 16 weeks for double red cell donations). Those currently taking antibiotics are not eligible. Visit the event website for more details and to register.
Cardboard Boat Regatta
The Cardboard Boat Regatta is making a splash once again with teams designing, building, and racing boats made entirely from cardboard and duct tape. Participants can race solo or in groups, and as long as the boat floats, it's good to go. Check-in starts at 3:30pm, races kick off at 4:30pm, and the popular Rubber Duck Raffle begins at 5:15pm. Spectators only need to pay daily admission at the Henderson Multigenerational Activity Pool, while boat entry is $5 with crew members getting in free. Awards will be given in categories like Best Looking Boat, Most People Aboard, Fastest Boat, Most Epic Sinking, and Best All-Around Boat. Raffle ducks are just $1 each.
Back to School Bash
The Back to School Bash is an exciting evening event designed to kick off the school year with fun and community spirit. Families can enjoy carnival games, bounce houses, music, crafts, and a tasty dinner in a safe and welcoming environment. Each child will receive a backpack filled with school supplies to help them start the year strong. Parents or guardians must stay on-site during the event, and registration closes on July 21, with limited space available.
