Henderson Shines
Henderson Shines is a free annual community cleanup and recycling event that allows residents to safely dispose of household hazardous materials like paint, oil, and batteries, as well as recycle or donate items such as housewares, clothing, toys, and electronics. Last year’s event collected large quantities of paint, oil, e-waste, shredded documents, and donated goods, all properly handled to support eco-friendly disposal. Participants can drop off accepted items through a drive-thru system, with contributions going to organizations like Goodwill, Spread the Word Nevada, the Blind Center of Nevada, Paper Pros Opportunity Village, and the Salvation Army. The event ends promptly at 1pm or when capacity is reached, so early arrival is encouraged. Some restrictions apply, including no televisions, tires, encyclopedias, onsite shredding, or expired food donations.

Hot Wheels 500
The Hot Wheels 500 takes over the Silver Springs Recreation Center on November 8, inviting families to bring their favorite cars and race them on tracks designed for speed, distance, and fun challenges.
